Finally on my way north.. going through Canada and Alaska (about 2,100 miles to home, 400 of them in AK) were by far the longest stretches of mountains, lakes, wildlife, no cell service, loneliness.. definitely some of the prettiest country I saw.
"Since 1949.. the Bible of the North Country"
mountains in western BC
don't know if I could have survived without that book
Stone Sheep on Stone Mountain, BC
the road goes on forever..
a scene I had to turn around for.. couldn't believe what I was seeing
Wood Bison herd in northern BC.. they've never failed to show up somewhere on this road during the drive.
trying not to get too close..
Sign Post Forest, Watson Lake, Yukon
camping near Watson Lake
the lake.. nice to see fireweed again:)
driving in to Haines Junction, Yukon.. a favorite spot on the drive
first glimpse of Kluane Lake, Yukon Territory "There's a land where the mountains are nameless, and rivers all run God knows where." -Robert Service, "Spell of the Yukon"
first moose of the drive! just before the AK border
always a relief to finally cross this border.. (kind of) almost home
I'm lovin' it
not so much anymore.. 60 miles north of Glennallen and I get a flat. This means everything comes out of the car so I can get the spare...
Mount Saint Elias Interesting fact: the 13 highest peaks in the U.S. are all located in Alaska. Six of them are located in this Saint Elias Range.
finally home.. 2am
my car the next morning.. my dad says I was lucky to get here.. maybe.
The trip map.. approximately 7,000 miles, 23 states, 3 provinces, and many gallons of gas...
